August Stitch Fix Report
I know I haven’t blogged about it much lately, but I
recently received another Stitch Fix shipment and wanted to share my
results! Although I started out getting
a Stitch Fix shipment every month, I eventually started scheduling them for
every other month, as my closet was plumping up nicely, and my bank account was
heading steadily in the opposite direction.*
Stitch Fix just revamped their website, and in the automatic fix
scheduling area, “every other month” is now an option; I obviously wasn’t the
only lady that wanted to go this way.

Okay, on to this month’s fix! In the notes to my stylist, I asked to
incorporate a few more dresses and skirts, as well as continuing with tanks and
tops in lighter fabrics. The summer heat
in Arizona is really pushing me to want to wear loose knit items of clothing;**
even the walk from my air conditioned cubicle to my air conditioned car in the
afternoon has me sweating like an atheist in church wearing a mink pimp suit.
With matching hat, of
course.
One thing I’ll say for my recent fixes is that I’m totally
stoked by the fabrics and colors every time I open the box. Check out this stack of loveliness:
So pretty!
First up! This is the
Pomelo Bradley Snake Print Mixed Material Tank ($64). I really liked this one. I don’t have too much animal print in my
closet, so the snake pattern was a nice addition.
Man, I need a haircut.
I also liked the mixed material, which you can really see in
this rear view. It’s a gray, stretchy
t-shirt fabric, but a bit more upscale than that. It’s great for hanging around, but it might
be a bit too casual for work (even with our relaxed standards). Maybe I can bust it out for Jeans Day
Fridays.
Who’s got thumbs and
likes this shirt?
This girl!
Verdict: This one’s a
keeper!
Up next is the 41 Hawthorn Natasha Front Pocket Sleeveless
Blouse ($54). This one was okay, but I
didn’t totally dig it. It was pretty
wrinkly out of the box, which means I might have to iron it, and that’s not
really a thing I do.*** Also, it was a bit too billowy on the bottom, and I
thought it made me look a little hippy.
Like this, not like
this:
A little hippy
Verdict: Sent back.
Next is the Collective Concepts Jennah Flutter Sleeve
Leopard Print Blouse ($64). I really
liked this one, too. Nice and light with
a fun print and cool shoulder details.
Although you can’t really tell in the pictures, it was a bit too sheer
to wear without a tank underneath, so I’ll be doing that for work.
See the cool shoulder
sections?
They’re kind of like little, totally useless wings.
Verdict: Keep it!
Fourth in line was a dress, the Market and Spruce Spencer
Striped Jersey Dress ($54). I wanted to
like this dress. I loved the color out
of the box, but on me, it wasn’t doing me any favors. The material was comfy, but it was a bit too
short for me to wear to work, and I like my clothes to do double-duty when at
all possible. Also, the seaming across
the midsection was odd, and I didn’t like the way it made my waist look. See:
Meh.
Verdict: Sent back.
Lastly, I tried on the Under Skies Cayla Vneck Hi-Lo Maxi
Dress ($78). It’s navy blue, not black,
which is somewhat hard to see in the photos.
I liked the fabric and the design of the dress, and it was nice and
light. However, I didn’t care for the
hi-lo hem, particularly when the “hi” part of it hit me mid-calf or so in the
front and made me look rather stumpy.
Although I don’t mind being 5’5”, that type of thing isn’t doing me any
favors.
Verdict: I wavered on
this one, but ultimately, it was sent back.
Overall, I was happy with the items the fine folks at Stitch
Fix sent me, even if I didn’t end up keeping them all. My general thought process on Stitch Fix is
that I don’t keep something unless I absolutely love it and can immediately
integrate it into my wardrobe to use for at least two occasions that I already
have on the books, so to speak. If an
item doesn’t meet those requirements, then it gets sent back. This generally results in me keeping 2-3
items per shipment and sending the rest back for someone else to love. I’m not sponsored at all by Stitch Fix, but
if you’d like to try out the service and do so using my referral link (here:
http://www.stitchfix.com/referral/3223908), I get a credit on an upcoming shipment.
Plus, you’ll get good karma. We
can always use more of that.
Later!
Amy
* Not that I wasn’t
digging it. Because I was.
** I’d actually prefer
no clothing at all, but apparently, that’s against company dress code. LAME.
