October Stitch Fix

Another few months have gone by, so it’s time for another Stitch Fix!  In case anybody needs a refresher, Stitch Fix is an online personal shopping service that sends you clothes and accessories through the mail, and you determine which ones to keep or send back.  I’ve been through 7 or 8 fixes by now,* and I really enjoy each one.

Although I’ve kept my Style Profile on Stitch Fix fairly much the same since I started, I’ve added a few notes to my stylist at different times throughout the year.  For example, when summer hit in full swing here, I asked for my fixes to focus on lighter, sleeveless and short-sleeve tops so I could make it through the season without sweating through every one of my outfits.  Since it’s finally becoming cooler in Phoenix, and the smell of pumpkin spice is officially permeating the air, I decided I was feeling rather fall-ish.

Downright frigid, ya’ll.

To celebrate, I logged onto the Stitch Fix website and added a note to my stylist, asking her for some Phoenix-ified** fall items.  We’re also heading to San Francisco in the next few months, so I mentioned this in my note as well.  After all, Stitch Fix is headquartered in San Fran, so who better than the stylists there to know what will work well for an upcoming trip to the area?  I’m pretty good on pants (both casual and work-appropriate), so I asked for lighter weight long-sleeve sweaters/tops, as well as a light to medium weight jacket, cut to hit somewhere around my waist.***  My friend Charity (who first introduced me to Stitch Fix) received a super cute moto jacket from her stylist last year, and while I didn’t want to replicate hers exactly,**** I really loved the look.

Here’s Charity and I at a Cee Lo Green/Lionel Richie concert.
She’s not wearing her super cute jacket here, as this is from June,
and it was certainly at least 105 degrees.

Okay, to the fix!

What a pretty pile!

The first item I had to try was the jacket my stylist, Jodi, found for me.  It’s the RD Style Rhonda Knit Back Faux Leather Jacket ($78).

Cute, right?  I loved this jacket.  Although brown is not my favorite color, I like having a piece of outerwear that’s different from all of my normal black items, even though the good Southern girl in me worries that it won’t match my purse.  I’m working through this.  I really loved the faux leather on the front but the knit panels in the back and on the sleeves.  See?

Total keeper!

Up next was the Market and Spruce Jay Mini Houndstooth Printed Skirt ($58).  I loved the houndstooth pattern, but the skirt wasn’t lined and it’s one of the rare Stitch Fix items where the quality didn’t seem to justify the price.  The length was good but ultimately, it came down to me not really needing yet another black and white patterned skirt.  This one was sent back.

Chris was like, I swear you have a skirt in that pattern.
I had to prove to him that I did not.

Next, I tried on the Sanctuary Stefani Lace Detailed Crew Neck Tank ($44).  This was a cute tank, but as I mentioned earlier, I’m a little over tanks at this point, even though I still wear one every day under something.  The top was comfy and fit well, and I liked the colors, but eventually, it came down to the tank being too transparent for my taste.  You could see my bra straps through the lace at the top, and the acid-washed pattern on the body of the tank did the same.  I draw the line at wearing a tank top under ANOTHER tank top so you can’t see my bra.  Redonk.  Sent back.

See?!?!?  You can totally see my bra on the right side of the picture.

Another shirt by Sanctuary, but very different in style - the Sanctuary Sylvana Faux Leather Trim Plaid Tunic ($88).  This shirt was totally comfy, but also too much so.  I put it on and immediately got the impression I was wearing a flannel nightgown.  Maybe short people like me shouldn’t wear plaid tunics.  This was very much a shirt that should be worn only by tall, young, emo/hipster, size 2’s.  Especially for $88.  Again, comfy but sent back.

Good night, everybody!

My final item was the Bay to Baubles Bryson Long Tassel Chain Necklace ($34). I liked this necklace, and I’ve been reading***** that tassel necklaces are a thing right now.  However, this was just a bit too close to other jewelry I already have for keeping, even though the price point was right.  Sent back.

If you’d like to try Stitch Fix, please consider using my referral link, copied here (https://www.stitchfix.com/referral/3223908), as I receive a $25 credit when your first fix ships.  Other than the referral money, Stitch Fix doesn’t compensate me for writing about their service, although even if they did, you guys know I’m honest enough to not feed you a line of crap, right?  Okay, good - I thought so.

Later!

Amy

* I’m old and have lost track, honestly.

** AKA – please don’t send me chunky, cable-knit wool sweaters.  We’re never going to need that stuff here.

*** I have a great heavy, knee-length coat which, given my proclivity for residing in places where it rarely gets below 40 degrees, will last me for the rest of my natural life.

**** Single white female, party of one?

***** Yes, Toni, on Tom and Lorenzo.

  1. Hi! I'm glad to have found your blog. I just received the same faux leather jacket in my first stitch fix this weekend. I do tend to have black outerwear like you, I'm definitely going to keep it. My question is...... Did you find a purse to match? Ha ha. This is now my concern.
