Stitch Fixin’ – ACTING Edition
This past week, I received another delightful Stitch Fix box
in the mail, and since it’s been awhile since I shared my results on the blog,
I figured I’d do so now. Since I know
the regular pose of me trying on clothes in front of my bedroom door must get
old, I figured I’d spice it up this time.
Instead of just presenting the clothes, I’d do some acting to add in how
the clothes made me feel. Get ready for
a master class, people.
Clothy goodness!
First up was the Kut From the Kloth Kate Distressed
Boyfriend Jean ($78). Stitch Fix
introduced me to Kut From the Kloth jeans in my very first fix, through the
pair of black skinnies I still love to wear today. All on my own, I sought out another pair of
skinnies from this brand in green corduroy, and they served me well through the
four harsh days of winter we endured here in Phoenix.* Thus, I was excited to see another pair of
jeans from the brand appearing in my delivery this month. I initially had reservations about the light
wash and the cuffing on the ankles, figuring it would make my already short
frame appear stumpy. When I put them on,
neither concern really bothered me that much, and they fit like a glove. However, the distressing on the jeans wasn’t
to my liking, and it made me feel rather metal, as you can see in the pictures
below.
I’m hard core, yo.

In these shots, I’m also wearing the Pixley Francisco Mixed
Material Top ($54). I liked the cut of
the top and the pattern, as well as the predominantly blue color palette. The fabric was also nice; light enough to
wear in the summer here, but substantial enough that I didn’t have to wear
another tank underneath it to keep my undergarments from being on display. I was set to put in the keeper pile until I
turned around in the mirror to see the keyhole in the back. While the keyhole wouldn’t be a problem for
wearing on the weekends, clothes that cost this much need to do double-duty at
work and home; showing that much back isn’t cool for work, so no dice. This made me feel rather wistful, as I liked
the shirt otherwise.
So very sad.

Up next was the Papermoon Georgi Embellished Detail Knit Top
($48). When I read that this was coming,
I was intrigued. My very first Fix had a
top with an embellished neckline that I ended up sending back, since the
jeweling around the neck was too heavy given the flowing cloth of the top
itself (amongst other reasons). However,
this match was much better; the fabric of the top, while still light and flowy,
was a bit thicker, so it stood up well to the neckline detail. The detail itself was also embroidered
instead of bejeweled, so it wasn’t quite as heavy. The shirt was nice and soft and passed the
work/play combo, so it was a winner. The
collar gave off a distinctly Egyptian vibe, as you can clearly see in the
pictures below.
Chris: What’s that?
Me: A pyramid.
Hush.
Verdict on the shirt:
Keeper!
Coming up next was the Staccato Margaux Button Up Top ($44). Chris kept himself busy while I changed:
Even the most intrepid
cameraman gets bored sometimes.
I pulled this out of the box with a wrinkled up nose, since
my initial perception of the pattern wasn’t particularly pleasing. However, I put the shirt on, and the softness
of the fabric and fit immediately won me over.
It kind of has a sheen to it that dresses up the look a bit, so it’s
good for casual Fridays with jeans and work pants/skirts for other days of the
week. I celebrated by showing how I was
confused at first, but then jubilated over my new top!
Hmmm…I wonder if I should keep this…

Verdict on the shirt: Keeper!
Finally, I tried on the Renee C Alondra Ruched Pencil Skirt ($58). The color of the skirt was great, and the
length was right on point as well. While
ruching isn’t a style I normally gravitate to right away, it didn’t really
bother me here. What didn’t make me
shout for joy was that while the skirt fit, the type of fabric was a bit too
clingy for me. While I would feel
comfortable wearing the skirt out for a nice dinner or drinks with the girls,
it was a little too showy for work.
Given the self-imposed double-dipping rule I have for Stitch Fix clothes,
that meant it went back in the box. Here
I am, feeling rather vixen-ish:
Or at least, how I
interpret it.

animal.**

Overall, a successful Stitch Fix box! This is my 6th or 7th
shipment with the company, and I’m still enjoying the service. If you’d like to try it out, please consider
using my link. I’m not compensated by Stitch Fix, but if you
sign up using my link, I get a $25 referral credit.
Later!

* Kidding aside, I took them on our Christmas trip to San Fran, and they were perfect there.
** Well, my other spirit animal. We've already determined that Leslie Knope is my original spirit animal.
