It's Good to be with Family - Part 4

Did you read Part 3?  You should read Part 3.

Although I'd gone to bed late the night before, due to coming home from the House of Mouse, my day still started early; Chris woke me up at 6:15, asking me to drive him home from the car dealership where he was dropping his vehicle for service while he telecommuted for the day.  Thankfully, upon making it home successfully, I was able to crawl right back into bed and sleep a few more hours.

For their part, Jim and Leigh woke up in Anaheim and headed to downtown Disney for breakfast and shopping!

Time for foods!

Unfortunately, they hit a massive backup at the security checkpoint; it had been great the day before, but they must have arrived right at its maximum:

That is not the face of an excited person

Eventually, though, they made it in, and the eating and shopping commenced!

Ta da!  This place is closed!

Dad was making his way from Orange to Long Beach to do some work on the boat (story of his life), and he did us the solid of picking up Jim and Leigh on the way, bringing them directly to us, and saving us from yet another jaunt into the OC.  We hung around the house for most of the day, stepping out around noon to take Chris to get his car and swing by to pick up lunch to take home.

After Chris got off work around 5pm, we all hopped in the car and headed west this time, out toward the ports of Long Beach and LA and the city of San Pedro.  In addition to going to Disneyland, one of the things Leigh really wanted to do was see the rugged coast of California.  While the LA area in general is a bit farther south than the really rugged bits (I'm thinking my marathon route for Big Sur), we still wanted to get her out to the coast to see the area.

On the way, we drove through the port area, which is pretty impressive in scale, and we briefly stopped for sightseeing in the city of San Pedro, one of our favorite nearby locales.

Back in the car!

"When will my husband come home?"

Just a normal set of pictures with
a normal bunch of people

After our quick stop for scenery and shenanigans, it was on to the Korean Friendship Bell:

It was a windy day, and many folks
were using this to their kite-flying advantage

Hugs!

Our last stop in San Pedro was the Point Fermin lighthouse and nearby park, and the scenery was pretty awesome there, too:

new rental scooters.
No one was brave enough to hop aboard, however.
We're old now, and we don't bounce very well.

It's Blinky!

After strolling through the park for a bit, it was back into the car and out of San Pedro, heading toward Rancho Palos Verdes along the coastal road.  We'd timed it so we'd see part of the sunset, and we didn't stay for the whole thing; we should have planned a bit better and brought a picnic dinner with us - next time!

We headed home and put together dinner, hanging out for a bit and watching - if I remember correctly - The British Baking Show.  We're wild, ya'll!  On the next blog, Jim and Leigh finish out their CA adventures with a trip to the OC County Fair!  It's time for pig racing!

Later!

Amy
