Rocky Mountain High - Ragnar Snowmass 2019 - Part 5

Need to catch up?  Here's Part 4.

When we ended the last Ragnar Snowmass blog, Chris and I were on our own, fast asleep in the Hotel Teatro, after a night spend wandering around downtown Denver and sampling its many delights.

As you might imagine, we were slow to get moving the next morning; I took another amazing bath in the fancy bathtub, while Chris headed out to get coffee and chai.  We met downstairs in our hotel's restaurant, the Nickel, for a later, slightly lighter breakfast.

Our home for the night in Denver!

We decided to head for the nearby US Mint, figuring we're always up for a good tour to see how things are made (the nerdier, the better!), but the tickets were all gone for the day (the website I found said people start lining up at 5:45am for entrance, and apparently, that was actually the case.  Dang!).  I looked up a walking tour on the Frommers website instead, and away we went!  On the tour, we headed back past the Convention Center and ended up in the Arts Center area, which is a really cool complex.  There are something like 8-10 theaters and other venues all lodged together under one gigantic, glass-skylight roof, and it's a beautiful space.  There are also great views of the mountains from one of the entrances:

We also strolled up and down the 16th Street Mall, which has tons of cool shops and eateries.  Here's part of the Mall, with the D&F Tower anchoring one end:

The Tower is modeled after the Campanile in Venice

Around lunchtime, we wandered past Coors Field on the way to Biker Jim's, which we'd finally get to enjoy after missing out a few days prior.  Just like the last time we visited (several years ago), it was delicious!

I had the Conspiracy, which is topped with
blue cheese, fried onions, bacon marmalade, and lemon aioli.
SOOOO GOOOD.

Brent, who had questions about the garage
he's building for us

With food in our bellies (lots of food), we headed around the corner to the tasting room and production brewery for one of our favorite Colorado spirits, Great Divide Brewery.  I love their line of Yeti imperial stouts, and they had all sorts of fun options on the board.

My flight - aren't they pretty?

Both of us on the board at Great Divide,
since we were checking in on Untappd

We initially planned to hit another brewery in the area, but we were tapped out (get it?  Brewery humor!).  We strolled back to the Teatro to get our bags and rental car, and we zoomed on over to the airport.  With some time to kill, we chilled for a bit, had a few more snacks (at the Great Divide location inside the airport), and then hopped our short flight back home.

Unfortunately, our plane landed too late to pick up the munchkin that night, but I was able to go get her from doggie daycare (where we board her as well) during my lunch break the next day.

I think she was happy to see me!

Overall, it was a great trip to the mountains, and we can't wait to head back!

Later!

Amy
