Logging Some Lake Time - Part 2
Did you read Part 1? Here you go!
Last week, I started blogging about our recent trip to Alamo Lake, an Arizona state park near Wenden. Wenden itself is near Salome; if you prefer, it's also 45 minutes from Wickenburg. It is in the middle of NOWHERE, is what I'm trying to say.
There's the lake!
For all of us, one of the major reasons in going to the lake was to get our fuzzballs in the water. Bryan and Jen had invested in these cool, inflatable boats, so they drove to the working boat ramp and launched them with their dogs, Bogey and Bronx, aboard. They rowed over to the high water boat ramp we'd explored last night, and we met them there with our girls. As you might imagine, all sorts of wet dog-related chaos ensued.
Bryan asked if we would take pictures of the four
of them as they rowed over,
and I made sure to oblige -
that's them right there!
I'm not saying that they HAVE to put this on their
holiday card, but, you know...
Jen and Bogey, having a good shake
Bryan and Bronx making it to us
Bogey, ready to hop out and romp!
The water was a really nice temp -
far warmer than I thought it would be,
but still refreshing.
She's seriously such a good swimmer.
I doubted her initially - I thought she'd sink like a rock -
but I was totally wrong.
You can see the shore behind me -
August just threw herself over these rocks.
We're still amazed she didn't break something.
Ooh, here's a video - there is some sound, but it's mostly us talking to the dogs, so if you don't use your speakers, you're not missing anything:
While we were down by the lake, Chris took Jen's boat out for a spin; he tried casting from it, but Zoe saw him "throw" something and immediately tried to retrieve the fishing lure. Chris' idea of fishing from the boat ended quickly when he saw a determined terrier (as if there's any other kind) speeding out toward him through the water. He quickly reeled the line in and used the "suitcase handle" on top of her harness to pick Zoe up out of the lake and put her in the boat with him. Sadly, during most of this, I was chasing after August, who is not the best with coming when called (Jen kindly classified her as a "flight risk"), so I don't have pictures of this.
After a good 45 minutes of romping, everyone was exhausted, so it was back to the camper for us! The sun was getting high overhead, and the temps were starting to rise. Some time in the shade was more than called for.
Next week, we finish out our time at the lake!
Later!
Amy
