Digital Nomad Summer - Part 1

Image
Hello, everybody! As I mentioned on the blog last month , once both Chris and I became full-time telecommuters and acquired Zelda , our second travel trailer, we started developing a plan to hit the road and work remotely for the summer, in a bid to escape the excessive loveliness that is Phoenix in July and August.  We learned quite a lot from working from the rig in Southern California in April, and in late June, we headed back – albeit a bit further north – to start our adventure.  Ciao, Phoenix!  See you in a few months! We timed our departure to align with the week that my dad Steve would start his third  Transpac  race, a sailing adventure running from SoCal all the way to Honolulu, Hawaii.  The first event we’d attend with he and Risa, as well as my Aunt Denise and cousin Rich (also visiting, from Houston), would be the Aloha Send Off party on Saturday night; to ensure we’d make it there in time, we worked the early shift on Friday, waved goodbye to the house for the next two

Up in the Pines - Part 2

Did you read Part 1 ? When last we blogged, we'd made it to White Spar Campground in Prescott, Arizona with our friends Jake, Keeli, Christina, and Amadeo (as well as various and assorted fur-kids) and were enjoying our first evening of the long Memorial Day weekend. Zoe snoozes while Bea eats things she shouldn't - story of our life right now. As is our normal, we were up pretty early on Sunday morning, and once quiet hours ended, Chris headed outside to boil hot water for coffee and tea on our Camp Chef Stryker .  Making the coffee! Cuddling with the girls on the couch Before too long, it was time to put breakfast together, an egg/bacon/spinach/cheese scramble with toasted English muffins and jam on the Camp Chef flattop (we are clearly a Camp Chef family).  I heard from Christina; she and Amadeo were also up having some morning sustenance, and we could see Jake and Keeli starting to stir as well. Zoe made it her mission to eat as much of this grass as possible. I *promise*

Up in the Pines - Part 1

Well, hello there, blog readers!  It's been a hot minute since I last posted, but things have been on the quieter side around here lately.  We took the home office setup on the road for a week to SoCal in early April, and we've since been preparing for a lengthier version of that excursion, which will kick off in about a week.  Due to this, we've mainly been hanging at home and enjoying our dining and entertainment options in Phoenix while we got ourselves ready to hit the road (which for me, mainly involves making lots and lots of lists.  I do love a good list).   We did, however, have the opportunity to head northwest for the long Memorial Day weekend, to spend some time camping in the pines with several of our buddies.  A great time was had by all, despite bouts of illness and accidents!  Ominous foreshadowing, engage! Our motley crew - Chris and I, Keeli and Jake, and Amadeo and Christina Not shown are all of our fur-kids, who were either inside our camper (Zoe and Bea
